Antonio Michele Rapous (Turin 1733-1819) Architecture and Floral Still Life, oil on canvas in a contemporary frame  Traduit
Description:
Refined still life composition with architecture, an example of the full maturity of Antonio Michele Rapous, the most important still life painter of the Piedmontese 18th century. The work presents a rich and scenographic ensemble of flowers arranged in a cascade within a large golden vase, accompanied by further floral elements placed on a stone base. In the background, an elegant architectural backdrop with a column and a shadowed wall lends depth and solemnity to the scene. The quality of execution – evident in the rendering of surfaces, the brilliance of colors, and the calibrated light construction – fully reflects the hand of Rapous, an artist celebrated for his ability to combine refinement of line and decorative richness. As recalled in the Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani (Treccani), Rapous "dedicated himself to painting with success, so much so as to be considered the most important still life painter of the Piedmontese 18th century... he produced with refinement of line for the main palaces of the Kingdom a large quantity of canvases and overdoors with fruits and flowers arranged in a cascade, with landscape vistas and architectural elements." The work presented here fits perfectly into this production, combining decorative sumptuousness with the classic composure typical of the Turin figurative culture of the time. The richly worked contemporary frame completes and enhances the composition. height 120 cm width 104 cm Each painting in our Gallery is sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by an Expert of the Court and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Genoa.  Traduit
