The antique Dutch still life painting, offered here, is an oil on panel painting from the late 19th century and is presented with an antique gilded frame in pure gold leaf.
The artwork depicts a composition of objects on a table covered with a white, pleated tablecloth.
The elements are arranged with great balance and attention to detail: In the foreground, there is a round loaf of bread on a dark metal plate.
Behind it, a bunch of light grapes, a bulbous glass filled with red wine, and a finely crafted transparent blue glass goblet can be seen.
On the right, a gilded metallic object, a chalice, adds a touch of light and richness.
The antique artwork shows a remarkable technical mastery in the rendering of surfaces: the glass, the metal, and the fabric are treated with realism and attention to light.
Antique paintings on panel, still life dated 1886 and signed lower right Jos Delehaye (20th-19th century), a Belgian painter active in the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century.
The oil painting and the frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
