Si iniziò invece del panno ad introdurre tessuti sontuosi come il velluto, la seta o il broccato e linee degli abiti femminili divennero più vaporose e seducenti. Questa nuova eccentricità era il riflesso di un cambio culturale più ampio, la transizione dal barocco al rococò. Quest'ultimo fu un periodo caratterizzato dallo spirito esuberante ed eccessivo che invase Versailles e Parigi e che da lì conquistò le altre corti europee.

Beautiful oil painting depicting woman in typical clothes of the period, beginning '800
Instead of cloth, sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, silk or brocade were introduced and the lines of women's clothing became more vaporous and seductive. This new eccentricity was the reflection of a wider cultural change, the transition from Baroque to Rococo. The latter was a period characterized by the exuberant and excessive spirit that invaded Versailles and Paris and from there conquered the other European courts.
