"Portrait of a Woman", oil on copper, early 19th century.
Measures: In frame H 34.5 x W 30.5 x D 4 cm / H 22.5 x W 16 cm
Beautiful oil painting depicting a woman in typical clothing of the period, early 1800s.
Sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, silk, or brocade were introduced instead of cloth, and the lines of women's clothing became more airy and seductive. This new eccentricity reflected a broader cultural shift, the transition from Baroque to Rococo. The latter was a period characterized by the exuberant and excessive spirit that invaded Versailles and Paris, and from there conquered the other European courts.
In very good condition.
