Dimensions: Christ height 39 cm
Materials: Ivory, wood, plexiglass (display case)
Refined ivory sculpture finely carved depicting the Crucified Christ (Christus Triumphans). The work stands out for its high plastic quality and detailed anatomical rendering, with particular attention to muscle tension and the pathos of the face.
The body of the Savior is rendered with dynamic torsion, the loincloth is masterfully knotted in a sculptural manner, and the facial features, framed by a meticulously described beard and hair, reflect intense spirituality. The work is presented within a modern plexiglass display case that ensures its protection and exhibition value.
From a stylistic point of view, the artifact is attributable to the circle of the German sculptor Georg Petel (1601-1634), famous for merging the lessons of Rubenesque baroque with the tradition of ivory sculpture from Northern Europe.
The work dates back to the 17th century, a period of great flourishing for glyptics and sacred micro-sculpture in precious materials.
The item is accompanied by regular CITES certification, mandatory for the free circulation of antique ivory artifacts.
The state of conservation is good, consistent with its age, with the presence of natural and subtle growth lines of the material that attest to its authenticity.
