A painter from Alessandria, Cristoforo De Amicis (Alessandria, 1902 - Milan, 1987) began teaching at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts at the Scuola Artefici, of which he became director in 1955; while at Brera, he was in charge of teaching Ornato Disegnato from 1935, and Figura Disegnato at the Liceo Artistico from 1936, a position he held until 1972. From 1951 to 1955 he held the chair of Painting at the Brera Academy.
His painting production took place between 1924 and 1987 and included still lifes, landscapes, self-portraits, madonnas, Harlequins, while the theme of the nude became predominant from the 1920s until late maturity. His works were presented in 37 solo exhibitions between 1928 and 1981 mainly in Milan and Lombardy, while from 1927 the artist was present at the most important Italian and international art events.
