SOLD - Portrait of a lady by Giacomo Fiamminghi (Luzzara, 1815 - Verona, 1895)  Translated
Description:
Portrait of a lady Giacomo Fiamminghi (Luzzara, 1815 - Verona, 1895) 49.5 x 42 cm Framed 62 x 54 The painting, created by Giacomo Fiamminghi in 1856, certainly commissioned, portrays a bourgeois lady wearing an amaranth velvet dress with a lace collar embellished with a sumptuous brooch that matches the elegant earrings. The painting is signed and dated 1856, therefore executed during his stay in Verona. Giacomo Fiamminghi was born in Luzzara to Giuseppe and Angela Grisanti and spent his first years of apprenticeship in nearby Guastalla, with Gualdi, then moving to the Royal Academy of Parma, where he was a pupil of G. B. Borghesi. Around 1840, thanks to his friendship with the engraver Toschi, he moved to the Academy of Florence, as a student of S. Jesi. In Florence he devoted himself to the study of the nude and fifteenth-century Tuscan painting. Also in 1840 he was commissioned the altarpiece of S. Sebastiano curated by the Pie Donne, still preserved today in the parish church of Luzzara, which confirms his academic preparation. From Florence, he moved to Mantua, where he remained for two years; a self-portrait, previously in a private collection, probably dates back to this period. In 1845 he went to Verona and joined the Academy of Painting and Sculpture. In 1858 he was among the founders of the Society of Fine Arts and, in the same year, he took part in the first of the exhibitions organized by the Veronese association: he exhibited the painting Nina or the madwoman for love, from around 1850 (Verona, Gallery of Modern Art, see Marinelli, 1989), and a Self-Portrait that brought him to the attention of Veronese families, thus opening an interesting market niche in the field of bourgeois portraiture. His works are kept in important private collections as well as in local institutions such as the Accademia Virgiliana, in Verona in the modern art collection of Palazzo Forti. The work, like all our other objects, will be sold accompanied by certificates of authenticity and lawful origin. We personally take care of and organize the packaging and shipping of works of art with insurance all over the world. If the work is purchased by non-Italian customers, it will require a certificate of free circulation. The same can be obtained in 10/20 working days. The gallery will take care of the bureaucratic and economic aspects of the matter. All costs of the operation are therefore included in the price.  Translated
