SOLD The painting depicts on the left a vast landscape view with classical ruins and sculptures; in the center a raging torrent and in the background a partly fortified village. A moving sky full of clouds completes the scene. The painting is a valuable work by an illustrious eighteenth-century Italian painter: Giovanni Antonio Pianca. Pianca, born in 1703, originally from Val Sesia, was active in Milan and Novara, but also lived in Genoa where his work was strongly influenced by Magnasco...
