Portrait of a young and attractive noblewoman, elegantly dressed, with a feathered hat on her head. The lady is depicted in profile, her gaze directed towards the viewer. With her left hand, on her index finger, she holds a graceful goldfinch. The exquisite execution of the painting denotes the artist's notable predisposition for portraiture. The work displays the unmistakable elegance of the French school of the 18th century and should be compared to the painting of the celebrated master Jean-Baptiste Greuze (Tournus, 1725 – Paris, 1805). Most of his portraits depict young and carefree female protagonists, not always of high social standing, but always of remarkable beauty.
