Devotional display case with Entombment of Christ in polychrome terracotta – 19th century
Important devotional display case in Neoclassical style, containing a refined representation of the Entombment of Christ, modeled in polychrome terracotta and resting on a shroud with a decorated cushion.
The figure, created with great expressive sensitivity, highlights the wounds of the Passion through delicate polychromy, enhancing its realism and devotional intensity.
The urn is made of carved and gilded wood, with rich decoration in classical motifs, a large front glass, and shaped feet. The quality of the frame and the balance of proportions make the ensemble a valuable example of sacred art originally intended for private chapels, oratories, or convent environments.
An object of strong scenic and spiritual impact, it represents a significant testimony to Italian devotional production of the 19th century.
Condition: Good general state of conservation. Normal signs of age and slight wear of the gilding, consistent with its age. The polychrome terracotta is in good condition, with minor paint losses and small wear marks compatible with the period. It is recommended to carefully examine the photographs, which are an integral part of the description.
Materials: Carved and gilded wood, glass, polychrome terracotta. Period: 19th century.
Dimensions: 46 x 20 cm, height 37 cm.
Origin: Italy.
Valuable work of sacred art, ideal for collectors, antique dealers, and enthusiasts of devotional objects, as well as a highly charming element for historical settings or specialized collections.
