Refined composition depicting the Neapolitan Nativity scene. The sculptural group of the Holy Family is set within an architectural aedicule defined by two fluted columns with Corinthian capitals, finely crafted in gilded wood. Their shafts frame a textured wall of cork and stucco. The Virgin is depicted wearing a crimson tunic and a powder blue mantle with fluid drapery, while Saint Joseph is enveloped in a voluminous ochre-colored cloak. In the center, the Baby Jesus rests in a manger, the perspectival focal point of the entire scene. All figures have glass eyes. 19th century.
