Lacquered wooden bench, Veneto, first half of the 18th century
Beschreibung:
Lacquered wooden bench, Veneto, first half of the 18th century Dimensions: cm W 156 x H 138 x D 35.5. Seat height without cushion 47 cm, with cushion 53 cm. Price: private negotiation. Item accompanied by our certificate of authenticity. This elegant bench was made in the Veneto region, in lacquered wood, in the first half of the 18th century. The furniture is striking for its luminosity, achieved through a pale color scheme with delicate tones and a rich trompe-l'oeil decoration of architectural taste, which simulates marble partitions, shaped frames and sinuous volutes in Baroque style. The surfaces are enlivened by polychrome floral motifs, skillfully inserted to lighten and embellish the whole. The shaped structure and the sinuous profile of the backrest give the bench a strong scenic presence, making it suitable both as functional furniture and as a decorative element of great impact. The seat is liftable, allowing access to a small internal storage compartment, equipped with a lock, a practical solution typical of 18th-century chest benches. The bench is accompanied by a velvet cushion, which enhances its use as a seat and increases its comfort. Overall, a piece of furniture of great charm and pictorial quality, an expression of the Venetian tradition of 18th-century lacquering, ideal for collectors and for refined interiors, classic or eclectic. Thanks to its balanced proportions, its contained dimensions, and the striking luminosity of the lacquer, the bench lends itself to being placed in entrances, living rooms, bedrooms, where it can fulfill both a containment and decorative function, becoming an elegant focal point within the environment.
