Roda Leonardo, allievo di Marco Calderini, partecipò a varie mostre torinesi e milanesi. Fu un fedele, instancabile riproduttore del Cervino. (Nell’ultimo decennio la sua pennellata si fece stanca ed egli ne soffri anche moralmente. Sei mesi prima di spegnersi riuscì a consegnare diciotto quadri di commissione per una Casa d’Arte romana: ma fu l’ultima sua fatica » (Dragone). Alcune sue opere: Raggio di sole; Vita nomade; Angolo tranquillo, acquistato dalla Società per le Belle Arti di Torino nel 1914. Del Roda molte furono le opere ammirate a varie Esposizioni. Torino, Milano, Genova, Firenze, presentarono di lui opere serie e studiate; fra queste emergevano: Il Cervino, Calmo tramonto, Tinte d’aprile, Autunno, Tra i castagni, La Stura in Val d’Ala, tutti quadri pregevoli per verità e finezza di colorito. La campagna, come si disse, è la fonte delle ispirazioni del Roda, ed è doveroso aggiungere che dalla campagna egli ritrae sempre i motivi più salienti e caratteristici; i punti più sublimi e incantevoli, riproducendoli sulla tela con tinte brillanti e ariose.

Roda Leonardo, a pupil of Marco Calderini, participated in various exhibitions in Turin and Milan. He was a faithful, tireless reproducer of the Matterhorn. (In the last decade his brushwork became tired and he also suffered morally. Six months before he passed away he managed to deliver eighteen commission paintings for a Roman House of Art: but it was his last effort " (Dragone). Some of his works: Raggio di sole; Vita nomade; Angolo tranquillo, purchased by the Società per le Belle Arti di Torino in 1914. Of Roda many were the works admired at various Expositions. Turin, Milan, Genoa, Florence, presented serious and studied works by him; among them emerged: The Matterhorn, Calm Sunset, April Tints, Autumn, Among the Chestnut Trees, The Stura in Val d'Ala, all valuable paintings for truth and fineness of coloring. The countryside, as it was said, is the source of Roda's inspirations, and it should be added that from the countryside he always portrays the most salient and characteristic motifs; the most sublime and enchanting points, reproducing them on the canvas with brilliant and airy hues.
