DARS700 - Important grand piano clock, 19th century, dimensions L 51 x D 26 x H 245 cm
Description:
DARS700 - An important, highly elegant grandfather clock, characterized by a slender and strongly vertical structure which enhances its theatrical character. The casing is made of dark wood, with a polished surface that highlights the depth of color and the quality of the craftsmanship. The upper part is particularly elaborate: the crest features an architectural form with shaped profiles and small decorative elements culminating in spherical knobs, while the dial, protected by a glass door, appears rich in fine engravings and decorations, with a complex setting typical of valuable antique clocks. The central body is narrow and elegant and features a splendid inlaid panel that develops vertically, probably made with wood essences of lighter shades which create a refined contrast with the dark background. The inlay depicts a very detailed landscape scene, in which buildings, trees, and naturalistic motifs can be distinguished, arranged with great compositional balance and framed by thin decorative fillets. The lower part also maintains the same level of quality, with a solid and well-proportioned base enriched by further finely detailed floral decorations and ornamental motifs. Overall, the clock presents itself as a piece with a strong visual impact, highly decorative, likely intended for representative environments. The slender structure, the figurative inlays, and the richness of the crest suggest an object of classical taste, elegant and of notable aesthetic quality. 19th century.
