Rare painted sideboard. Venetian Lagoon, last quarter of the 17th century.
Description:
Splendid lacquered sideboard with two doors of considerable quality and importance, characterized by a curved, crescent-shaped structure. The furniture is entirely lacquered and retains its original, originally celestial blue lacquer which over time has shifted to a soft, greenish hue. Small genre allegories are depicted, referring to human virtues linked to nature or the cyclicality of the seasons, with superb pictorial quality. These figures are framed by elegant decorative borders in a classic taste, composed of garlands, drapes, and bells, evoking the sobriety of late imperial decorations.
The furniture is in excellent conservative condition, both structurally and regarding the sumptuous lacquered decoration. It is typical of the lagoon areas of lower Veneto or was likely made for important Venetian interiors, dating from between 1670 and 1720.
Single-piece top with faux marble decoration that follows the architectural scan of the furniture and its pillars.
Its dimensions are 153 x 100 H x 65cm
The sale is accompanied by a certificate of guarantee.
