WORK 54. “ROMAN CHARITY” Work by Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini (Venice, 1675-1741). This seductive painting is a youthful work by Antonio Pellegrini, the painting depicts an episode taken from the facts and memorable sayings of the Roman historian Valerio Massimo (1st century after Christ) in which it is told of the old Cimon, imprisoned and reduced to death by hunger, which visited by his daughter Pero, was fed with breast milk.
