China drawing by Giovanni Fattori
Author : Giovanni Fattori
Period: Second half of the 19th century
Ink drawing on beige paper depicting a soldier standing from behind, probably a study used by the Livorno master for a painting in the mature period. The pose of the soldier in fact has some analogy with the figure of a soldier present in a painting published by Giovanni Malesci in his Fattorian monograph (1961, fig. 200, page 125) with the title "Artillery recruits". The incisive trait of the drawing, the strength of the synthesis, make this fast impression an interesting document of the graphic work of the Factor. Signed lower right G. Fattori The opera is authenticated by the Matteucci Institute. of Viareggio. Measures 12.8 x 18.8 cm
