Description:
Painting depicting a crevasse on Mont Blanc, represented from a close-up viewpoint that highlights the structure of the ice and the rocky conformation of the high mountains. The composition develops vertically, with a central ridge that organizes the pictorial space and leads the gaze towards the mountainous masses in the background.
In the foreground, fractured glacial surfaces can be distinguished, crossed by deep fissures and chromatic variations that convey the consistency of the ice and rock. The predominant tones are cold whites, grays, and blues, modulated by warmer, earthy touches in the emerging rocky parts.
The pictorial application is compact and measured, with visible but controlled brushstrokes, aimed at constructing volumes without indulging in descriptive detail. The work is signed lower left and dated 1939.
Available with a custom-made 7 cm antique fir wood frame, crafted in our restoration workshop.
