Description
A secretary desk with a majestic bombé front, Lombardy, mid-18th century. The construction is in walnut, walnut burl, and ebonized frames of various shapes (sides different from the central and upper part) with six drawers inside, the two central ones slightly recessed. The carcass and back are in poplar. The piece is topped by the upper section, known as a "priest's hat," which in this case opens from the side. The fold-down writing surface is placed above a small drawer beneath, separated by a projecting ebonized strip. Curving volute supports.
