Interesting small cabinet/money chest with panels and wood featuring Carthusian inlays from the late 15th century. Carpenteries of this type were in vogue between the second half of the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century in a vast area of central Italy, between Umbria, Marche, and Tuscany, crafted by master woodworkers involved in the construction of monumental liturgical and monastic furnishings. The woods and panels that make up the structure, pilasters, drop-front door, and the plating of the small drawers are ancient parts of Carthusian furnishings. The object may have been reassembled or restored at a later date.
