Wooden coin box with applied decorations. Italy, 19th century.
11 x 17 x h 7 cm.
Fir wood box with hinged lid, entirely covered with printed paper decorations imitating pyrographic work. The lid features a central radial grain panel, framed by a Greek meander border and stylized floral motifs at the corners; the outer walls repeat the same decorative repertoire. The interior is of raw wood. The slot on the front and on the inner lid reveals its original function as a coin bank. A folk art object of documentary interest for 19th-century Italian decorative craftsmanship.
