Isidoro Bianchi (Campione, 1581–1662) and circle of Pier Francesco Cittadini Judgement of Paris within a garland of flowers.
First half of the 17th century Oil on canvas, approx. 60×90 cm
A rare “double-hand” composition: the small mythological scene of the Judgement of Paris — the myth that gives rise to the Trojan War — is confidently attributed to Isidoro Bianchi by Prof. Mina Gregori, who recognizes its formal elegance and connection to the Morazzonian tradition.
The garland of flowers, bright and rich in botanical variety, shows affinities with the “Seghers-style” language, reinterpreted in the Lombard area by Pier Francesco Cittadini.
Work accompanied by an attributional study by Prof. Mina Gregori.
