Pair of Empire Gilt Bronze Candlesticks 1800, set of two French "cassolettes" or perfume burners in Empire style, in ormolu, dating from the first half of the 19th century. These antique French vases have a dual purpose, both decorative and as elegant candle holders. In fact, by inverting the reversible domed lid, each vessel transforms into a candlestick.
Made in the early decades of the 19th century, they feature an urn shape typical of French fireplace candelabra, resting on a finely chased cylindrical pedestal with floral and geometric motifs and a square base. The gilt bronze or ormolu, offers an alternation, a combination of matte and shiny finishes characteristic of the era. The upper cup is decorated with fluting and vine tendrils and leaves, while the lid is chased with concentric beads, ending with a pinecone finial.
They come from a private collection and are in good condition. Item A1563
