Important Italian chest of drawers from the transitional period between Charles X and Louis Philippe, made around 1830 in solid walnut and burr walnut. The piece of furniture has a sober and elegant line, still tied to the late Empire taste but already oriented towards the softer, more bourgeois forms typical of the Louis Philippe period. The facade is embellished with spectacular burr walnut with a very lively and deep grain, with a strong decorative impact. Composed of two large main drawers and a shaped undertop drawer, it retains much of its original structure. Inside, there are antique, thick bottoms made with manually worked planks, still visible with the marks of chisels and the craftsmanship of the era. The back is also constructed with antique, substantial planks. The locks of the two main drawers are original to the period, while the lock of the upper drawer was replaced in the past. Numerous original forged nails are still present. The legs have been restored or replaced in the 20th century during an old conservative intervention, which is now historical and consistent with the life of the furniture. The polish also shows traces of restorations and maintenance carried out over time. A piece of furniture of great structural solidity, characterized by important materials, a strong aesthetic presence and notable craftsmanship. Possibility, upon request, to carry out conservation interventions or aesthetic restorations through our specialized laboratory, agreeing on the level of intervention based on the client's needs.
