Elegant pair of oil paintings on wooden panel, depicting Jesus and the Madonna in a youthful physiognomy. Originally part of a larger wooden altarpiece, these two works are presented today as precious fragments. Both Jesus and the Madonna are adorned with halos and wear richly colored tunics and robes, whose details are rendered with extraordinary fineness. Their gazes, directed downwards, emanate a disarming candor and serenity. The pictorial technique used recalls the great masters of the 15th and 16th centuries, such as Raphael, highlighting the artist's skill. The frames, in carved wood and finished with bole, complete the works with a touch of elegance, although without gilding. The paintings are attributed to a painter from the Tuscan area, active around the end of the 16th century.
