This elegant frame in finely carved and gilded wood was made in the Tuscan area between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The structure, entirely carved and pierced, develops vertically according to a rich design of curved acanthus leaves and rocaille volutes that create a fluid and theatrical profile on the wall. The luminous gilding enhances the play of solids and voids and highlights the plastic quality of the carving, making the frame a true ornamental sculpture.
At the center of the composition, a dove in relief with spread wings stands out against a background of golden rays, superimposed on a shell element. These decorative elements are inspired by holy water fonts and the symbolism of the Holy Spirit. In the upper part, a large sunflower, carefully carved and projecting, stands out, introducing an iconographic element linked to the movement of light, and interpreted in a Christian context as an emblem of devotion and the search for inner light.
For its dimensions, the quality of the carving, and its scenographic presence, this frame is perfect as a focal point on an entrance wall, along a corridor, next to a console, or integrated into boiserie; it converses naturally with both antique furnishings and, by contrast, with contemporary interiors, where it introduces a refined decorative elegance.
