Splendid oil on panel depicting the Holy Family, set in an elegant carved and decorated gilded wooden frame with foliate motifs, a central coat of arms, and beading.
The composition features the Virgin Mary in a blue mantle and red gown, holding the Child Jesus, who has a small crucifix in his hand, a symbolic element of the future Passion. Next to them, Saint Joseph is depicted in a contemplative pose.
The iconographic setting and pictorial style recall the devotional tradition of the Italian or Central European sphere between the 17th and 18th centuries, with a soft rendering of the faces and a delicate attention to naturalistic details, such as the landscape in the background.
