The frame, of a type known as "francesina", is a Venetian production from the 18th century. The term denotes a model of French derivation, borrowed from the repertoire of Louis XV "baguettes" and frames popular in Paris during the 18th century, and adapted by Venetian workshops to local taste. The structure is articulated on two orders of simple carving that frame a smooth central band, according to a deliberately flat and linear profile, in contrast to more protruding Baroque frames. The gilding, applied on a prepared ground, retains its warm color with diffused patinas of aging. Condition report: Good overall condition.
