Glazed polychrome ceramic group, modeled with intense expressiveness and typical Umbrian devotional sensitivity of the 17th century. The Virgin, wrapped in a brightly colored mantle, holds the Child in an affectionate gesture that emphasizes the intimate dimension of the sacred scene.
The polychromy, still fresh and luminous, is enhanced by the lead glaze which gives depth to the colors and softness to the surfaces. The rendering of the faces, delicate and participatory, recalls the figurative tradition of the Deruta workshops active in the mid-Seventeenth century.
