Carved and gilded wooden frame. Italy, 19th century.
Opening 46 x 60 cm - Rabbet 48 x 62 cm - Overall dimensions 76 x 90 cm.
Entirely carved and gilded wood.
The frame is entirely perforated with highly sculptural acanthus scrolls and leaves. The inner profile, with a smooth profile, clearly separates the perforated structure from the opening. The decorative repertoire draws on models of the Italian Baroque frame, following a tradition widely practiced by Italian workshops throughout the 19th century.
