Description:
Fir wood table, made around the mid-19th century, traceable to production in the alpine region. The furniture has a simple and functional structure, with a rectangular top that slightly overhangs the apron and a central front drawer.
The four legs are slender, tapered, and slightly curved outwards, according to a style common in 19th-century alpine furniture, characterized by formal essentiality and structural solidity. The drawer has a small central metal knob; the interior, left natural, shows the light color of the fir wood.
The outer surface is characterized by an anthracite grey lacquer, likely applied later, which is now showing abrasions, missing parts, and signs of use that reveal the underlying wood. This irregular patina provides a layered reading of the object, highlighting the relationship between the original wooden structure and subsequent interventions. Its modest size and the presence of the drawer suggest it was intended for use as a side table or small service cabinet.
Work carried out on all our furniture:
- Structural restoration: repair of minor missing parts, closing of any cracks on the back, reinforcement of deteriorated areas, inspection and repair of hardware.
- Thorough woodworm treatment.
- Cleaning and sanitization of interiors.
- Exterior finish with natural beeswax.
- Interior finish with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.
Customizations:
Upon request, it is possible to agree on:
- the desired degree of restoration;
- customization of the interiors (addition of hanging rails, shelves, dividers, etc.).
