Refined oil painting on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame. The painting depicts an interior scene, in a Renaissance style, showing the courtyard of the Bargello, which was the police headquarters of the time, now an important Florentine museum. In the painting, amidst the architecture, we can see representations of fantastical animals and the lilies of the city of Florence. The stained glass windows also depict two coats of arms, referencing papal power and the city. In the portico, the passage of a figure, a soldier, in period clothing and chainmail, can also be glimpsed. It is a well-preserved painting, appreciated for its expert use of chiaroscuro, shadows, and stylistic rendering, capable of adding a touch of history and elegance to any environment. In the lower right part of the painting, there is also the signature "Gelati", attributable to the famous Florentine painter Lorenzo Gelati (1824-1899), and therefore dating to around the mid-19th century.
