This unique work depicts the face of a young woman painted directly onto a wooden painter's palette, transforming a tool of the trade into a painting support. The portrait, executed with a loose touch and dense paint, shows the figure in a half-length view against a neutral background, with dark hair and a white collar decorated with flowers. The rapid and confident technique is reminiscent of Lombard painting of the late 19th century, with stylistic affinities to the work of Moses Bianchi.
