Attributed to Moses Bianchi (Monza 1840 - Monza 1904) - Painter's palette with portrait of a young woman.
37 x 26 cm.
Oil on panel.
Signed lower right: "M.B.".
This unique work depicts the face of a young woman painted directly onto a wooden painter's palette, transforming a tool of the trade into a painting support. The portrait, executed with a loose touch and dense paint, shows the figure in a half-length view against a neutral background, with dark hair and a white collar decorated with flowers. The rapid and confident technique is reminiscent of Lombard painting of the late 19th century, with stylistic affinities to the work of Moses Bianchi. The initials "M.B." signed in the lower right corner confidently link it to the circle of the Monza-based painter.
