The painting depicts a reclining female figure, captured in profile against a greenish landscape background. The pose, with the torso slightly raised and the right arm lifted towards the head, refers to a well-established academic tradition of the French nude, widely spread between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The rendering of the complexion, soft and uniform, and the positioning of the figure on warm ochre and reddish-brown drapery, reflect a Neoclassical pictorial culture attentive to the plasticity of the body.
