George II sterling silver-mounted tea caddy with a Rococo canister and sugar basket, silversmiths NJ, John Cafe, Edward Aldridge & John Stamper, London, 1754
A fine George II sterling silver Rococo tea caddy and sugar basket by John Cafe, Edward Aldridge and John Stamper, dated 1754. All housed within a silver-mounted case. The caddy is bombé in shape, standing on four feet, with sides and covers embossed with Rococo motifs and two cartouches, the cover with a seated tea drinker and a finial of birds and branches. Sterling silver sugar basket with floral motifs and a coat of arms in the center.

Condition
Slight signs of age-related wear and superficial scratches. The four hallmarks are present on the base of the tea caddy and on the base of the sugar basket. Each element of the case is marked with the maker's marks and the lion passant.
