Beautiful oil on canvas depicting the Madonna and Child enthroned with Saints Peter and Paul, shown in contemplation before the Virgin.
Through stylistic and compositional analysis, and especially the use of a vibrant and luminous color palette, we can assert that the painting was executed by a painter active in Naples, stylistically linked to the fruitful artistic environment of the school of Paolo De Matteis (Piano Vetrale, February 9, 1662 – Naples, July 26, 1728), who, in his mature phase, became a true hub of talent.
Among his students were, in addition to his daughter Mariangiola De Matteis, Giuseppe Mastroleo, Inácio de Oliveira, the Sarnelli family members, Michelangelo Buonocore, Antonio Fumo, Francesco Giordano, and Domenico Guarino, among others.
The painting has been recently cleaned and relined, and is therefore in excellent condition. It is housed in a gilded leaf frame contemporary to the painting.
The canvas measures 74 cm x 100 cm - the dimensions including its original frame are 85 cm x 109 cm.
