Vienna c.a. 1820. Rare pair of splendid Biedermeier chairs, extraordinary in their modernity, attributable to Joseph Dahnauser, model 131.  Translated
Description:
Vienna, c.a. 1820-25. Extraordinary in their modernity, an elegant and intact pair of chairs from the finest Viennese Biedermeier designers, attributable to Joseph Danhauser or his immediate circle (model no. 131, with very slight differences, possible customization or even an evolution from the original 1815 design - see miniature within the second inserted photo for easy comparison). Veneered in blonde walnut feather combined with walnut burl on a maple wood structure (typical of J. Danhauser). Vienna 1825-30. Height 90.5 cm, seat height 49 cm. The pieces are in a state of integrity, including the seat upholstery which has only been re-covered with luxurious blue fabric in the Empire style. Consolidated and with a shellac finish applied by tampon with museum-standard technique. In a first, warm amber patina. In the miniature is the original design drawing of model 131 chair by Joseph Dahnauser (property of the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, visible by appointment). Giuseppe Danhauser Ulrich (born March 14, 1780, in Vienna; died January 9, 1829, in the same city) was a brilliant designer and the finest producer of Biedermeier furniture. He operated in Wieden, Vienna. His clients included the highest nobility, the royal family, and the upper bourgeoisie. Observe the second photo of this listing, which is a computer simulation of fancy where the work is imagined in a high-end modern furnishing context. Striking "modernity," luminosity, and abstraction emerge for a work conceived over two centuries ago. With a great touch of class and elegance to the overall effect. The high-end antique Viennese cabinetmaking of the Neoclassical period (1770-1830), with its sober and minimal elegance, and precious, light woods, pairs very well with the lines of contemporary modern furniture. A perfect unique piece as a focal point for high-level contemporary interiors. The early design of the Viennese masters of early Biedermeier = clean lines, lightness, precious wood veneers, excellent craftsmanship. Modest dimensions and compatibility with modern apartments. A feeling of everyday elegance and functionality. Perfect for minimalist contemporary interiors. A unique piece for discreet and refined luxury. For these reasons, in addition to their rarity, original, intact Viennese pieces from the period, prototypes of modernism, are destined to increase significantly in economic value over time and also represent a perfect form of investment.
