Description:
Elegant still life executed in oil on canvas, depicting a bouquet of flowers — primarily carnations in shades of white, pink, and red — arranged in a slender glass vase. The composition presents a well-balanced vertical structure: the stems of the flowers, gathered in a transparent, greenish-gray vase, create a main axis around which the softly colored corollas develop. In the foreground, on the dark supporting surface, the artist introduces a refined narrative detail: a small, open, decorated casket, lined with blue fabric inside, from which a golden necklace and a pocket watch emerge. Next to them, some cut flowers — including intensely colored pansies — add further chromatic balance and a symbolic touch. The dark, compact background accentuates the luminosity of the flowers, which emerge with an almost atmospheric delicacy thanks to the soft, layered brushwork. The work is presented within its original gilded antique frame, characterized by floral motifs.
