ROMANO COSTI
(Treviso, 1940 - 2014)
The Bather, circa 1985
Bronze, height 243 cm
In a view of the Canale Cagnan near Ponte della Malvasia in Treviso, a "spread" sculptural group is located, which Romano Costi has placed on the banks and in the water, composed of three female figures in bronze representing different attitudes or moments:
1. The Diver: This is the central and most famous figure, captured in the dynamic moment of leaping into the water.
2. The Bather: This is the figure situated right next to the Diver (often identified as the girl who is preparing or watching the water).
3. The Thinker: This figure is located slightly further back and in a raised position compared to the others; she is depicted seated, in an attitude of waiting or reflection, with her legs tucked up.
