An interesting 17th-century sculptural work in which the Annunciation scene is masterfully carved by a woodcarver from Central-Northern Italy. The two reliefs, approximately 60 cm high, are meticulously modeled in both their anatomical details and flowing drapery. Particularly appealing is the angel holding a lily made of metal elements, unfortunately missing its wings. The sacred scene, reminiscent of Tuscan prototypes from the High Renaissance, was conceived for display against a niche or wall, hence not carved in the round. Subsequently, the figures were incorporated into a display case and placed within this finely carved antique frame, showcasing its beautiful original gilding, which dates from the late 16th to the early 17th century. The work is noteworthy for its dimensions, the quality of the sculptural apparatus, and the carved frame. Inner frame dimensions: 73 x 92 cm - Outer frame dimensions: 103 x 122 cm. A certificate of authenticity is attached to the sale.
