Still life with strawberries arranged on lettuce leaves, with an overturned basket in the background. The small-format composition is executed with a loose and direct brushstroke, typical of the Belgian realist tradition of the late 19th century. The color scheme is articulated in the contrast between the vibrant red of the fruits and the brown and green tones of the background.
