Description:
Painting by A. Straub, from 1950, depicting an alpine view of Monte Cristallo with Lake of Landro in the foreground.
The work is executed with a brush, characterized by a compact and material chromatic application, with evident but controlled brushstrokes, particularly incisive in the rendering of the rocky masses. The composition is balanced and well-structured, with a clear articulation of the perspective planes: the grassy and rocky shore in the foreground introduces the scene, the central body of water expands the visual depth, while the jagged profile of Monte Cristallo dominates the background with an upward movement.
The chromatic range is predominantly cool, played on blues, grays, and dark blues, used for the sky, mountains, and lake reflections, harmonized by intense and natural greens in the wooded areas. The lake is treated with light horizontal brushstrokes, capable of effectively rendering the stillness of the surface and the reflection of the surrounding masses.
The light, diffused and uniform, lacking strong chiaroscuro contrasts, contributes to creating an atmosphere of calm and suspension.
Restoration Information:
The painting has undergone a light conservative cleaning of the pictorial surface. Available with the original frame.
