Biography: Italian painter who, with his painting, contributed to the affirmation of abstract art in Italy from 1945 onwards. In 1947 he went to Paris for the first time where, thanks to Gino Saverini, he met the major international artists including Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Hans Arp, artists by whom he would be profoundly influenced. In 1948 he exhibited at the Rome Quadriennale and at the "Salon des réalités nouvelles" in Paris; he often participated in the Venice Biennale.
