Intense oil painting on the refreshing touch of Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus, a scene of great sweetness and domestic intimacy. The composition, assembled and reworked, highlights the affectionate dialogue between the two figures: the Child, naked and luminous, reaches towards the face of the Saint, while Saint Joseph supports him with a protective gesture and a contemplative gaze.
The work is characterized by a strong sense of Caravaggesque taste, with the background and warm light concentrated on the faces and complexions, which gives depth of emotion and plasticity to the figure.
The soft brushstroke and the naturalistic rendering of the details - beard, curly hair of the Child, hands - suggest an Italian production, datable between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century.
