Decorative, bright, and luminous Austrian double-bodied cabinet / trumeau also suitable as a sideboard from the 18th century. The piece is masterfully veneered in bird's eye maple, with grains combined to create effects derived from the studied orientation. Elegant decorative frames with a baroque broken formwork motif on the front, in solid plum wood. In its sober simplicity, it is an attractive and luminous piece that can be perfectly combined with high-end modern furniture (see simulations at the bottom of the page). It has a warm, original honey/amber patina not perfectly reproduced in the photo (it is more beautiful in person). The piece is in practically intact condition with a shellac finish applied by pad using a museum-standard technique on the original patina. It has a semi-gloss appearance suitable for this type of furniture.
Measurements: Height 193 cm, Width 130 cm, Depth 64 cm. Observations: This type of furniture was generally intended at the time for noble residences, hunting lodges, castles for the rest and recreation of the nobles of the time, located in the Austrian provinces.
Observe the last photos on this page, which are a fanciful computer simulation where the work is imagined in a high-end modern furniture context. A "modernity", a brightness, and an abstraction emerge that are surprising for a work conceived over two centuries ago, as well as a great touch of class and elegance to the whole. The high Viennese antique cabinetmaking, with its sober and minimal elegance, its precious and light essences, is very linked to the lines of modern furniture.
