MONTELUPO MAIOLICA PLAQUE WITH VIRGIN MARY, LATE 17TH CENTURY  Translated
Description:
Refined rectangular polychrome majolica plaque. The plaque, probably for devotional use, depicts the Virgin Mary with folded hands, a veil, and a flowing dress. The Virgin is depicted in the act of crushing the serpent, a symbol of original sin. The frame, painted and enameled in a guilloche pattern, is also noteworthy, lending further refinement to the piece. This is an object of great taste and elegance, capable of lending a touch of class and antiquity to any setting. The plaque is also in perfect condition. Tuscan manufacture from the famous Montelupo ceramic workshop, late 17th century. Measurements: H x W x D 31 x 20 x 2cm  Translated
