This refined pair of large double doors represents an example of extraordinary scenic impact, originally conceived for closing a built-in wardrobe or a niche of high representation in a palatial context. The supporting structure, made of solid wood of excellent choice, is articulated through a rigorous compartmentalization into superimposed rectangular panels, whose profiles are defined by molded frames. The refined decorative apparatus, executed with a pictorial mastery worthy of the best artisan workshops, develops within large central reserves. Here, dense leafy volutes of baroque inspiration unfold vertically with fluidity, culminating in lush floral compositions populated by peonies, carnations and colorful corollas. The color palette, expertly balanced, favors desaturated tones of gray and ocher for the backgrounds, creating a harmonious contrast with the vibrant colors of natural pigments and the warm brilliance of the original gilding. From a stylistic point of view, the artifact fully reflects the taste of the Italian manufacture of Roman origin of the mid-18th century. The origin from a prestigious auction house in Rome further underlines its high historical and collectible value. The state of conservation is to be considered good: the surface retains a splendid natural patina that testifies to the authenticity of the piece, with slight signs of wear and minimal color drops that do not compromise, but ennoble, the aesthetic integrity of this rare testimony of decorative cabinet making.
