Hendrik Frans van Lint (January 26, 1684 – September 24, 1763) was a Flemish landscape painter, among the most interesting of the group of Flemish and Dutch painters who moved to Rome for the great study and work opportunities that the Capital offered. He is considered one of the leading landscape painters in Rome in the first half of the 18th century, and works produced in his renowned workshop were sought after by both aristocratic Roman families and European travelers as a memento of their Grand Tour.
Large canvases were exhibited in the salons of noble palaces, while smaller landscapes, often painted on panel, were suited to satisfy the market aimed at tourists in the Eternal City. The panel presented here is a typical production from his workshop for the Northern European market.
