PAIR OF IMARI VASES WITH LID - JAPAN - 19TH CENTURY  Translated
Description:
Pair of Large Vases with Lid – Imari Style, Meiji Period (19th Century) Elegant pair of Japanese Imari porcelain vases, characterized by the classic and prestigious chromatic combination of "iron red", underglaze blue and touches of pure gold. Main features: Style and Decoration: The vases have a "baluster" body with vertical ribs that give movement to the structure. The decoration is rich and meticulous, with large floral reserves depicting peonies and chrysanthemums (symbols of nobility and longevity), surrounded by foliage motifs and geometric arabesques typical of Arita manufacture. Lids: Both vases are complete with their original lids, surmounted by a finely decorated lotus bud-shaped handle. Technical Details: The mixed technique involves the use of cobalt blue applied before the glaze and the remaining decorations (orange/red and gold) applied over the enamel, with a subsequent low temperature firing. Condition: Excellent general condition. The brilliance of the glazes is well preserved and the gilding still retains much of its original splendor. The base has the typical unglazed ring, characteristic of antique porcelain. Dimensions: height 39 width 19 cm. Era: Meiji period (1867 - 1901) A regular certificate of authenticity with photo is issued.
