The painting depicts an elaborate still life of fruit and game, enlivened by the vibrant presence of two splendid roosters and a group of small birds.
It is one of the most typical pictorial compositions of the Milanese master Angelo Maria Crivelli, known as il Crivellone, excellent in his depiction of farm animals, birds and game amongst fruit and vegetables.
His skills as an "animalier" painter are clearly evident in this canvas, particularly in the rendering of the plumage and, above all, in the unsurpassed, lively gazes of the two roosters, which characterize much of his work.
The work is in excellent condition, professionally relined and complete with an important antique gilded frame.
